Duo Eclypse

Duo Eclypse

The Eclypse duo, a four-handed piano duo, is one of the most talented and noticed ensembles for almost ten years. The Duo has performed since its creation in ten countries on the stages of the most important festivals (Festival Città di Padova, Acit Venezia, Palazzo Albrizzi (Italy), Festival Au fil de l'Art (Belgium), Balckheat Hall (London), European Young Talents Festival, Au Gré des Arts Festival, A. Dumas Theater…) and their performances have been crowned with both public and critical success.

It was in 2015 that Duo Eclypse devoted its first disc to French music from the beginning of the 20th century and recorded the world premiere of Six Mélodies for four voices and orchestra by F. Schmitt in their own transcription. This arrangement, unanimously hailed by the press, has been the subject of several articles and interviews in the American press, which is particularly attached to defending the music of F. Schmitt beyond the borders.

Also very committed to the interpretation of contemporary music, the Duo notably created several works by M. Favrot and M. Sebaoun to which it is dedicated. Their numerous collaborations lead them to work alongside outstanding composers of the 21st century. In order to be able to make the youngest aware of music and to make it more accessible, they collaborate with other artists to create innovative bridges.

With the complicity of the actress Agathe Delhommeau, they adapt together unique shows revisiting the most famous tales such as "Pierre and the Wolf", "Alice in Wonderland" and with the painter Céline Gaucher, brushes and music give birth to a work of art made instantly.

Graduates of the CNSMD of Paris and Lyon, they receive during their training the precious advice of G. Moutier, R. Shereshevskaya, T. Parakivesco and the support of chamber musicians such as the Quatuor Berg, Ysaye, Artemis, Hagen or Ludwig.

Dividing their artistic life between a career as a soloist and as a chamber musician, Maroussia Gentet and Antoine Mourlas form a "inspired duo wonderfully tuned down to the smallest detail resulting in pure and sincere poetry under their fingers".

We will have the pleasure to welcome for this concert the Duo Eclypse constituted exceptionally for this occasion by the pianists Mary Olivon and Antoine Mourlas.

Antoine Mourlas

“There is a kind of benevolence in Antoine Mourlas' game [...] it's his feline side: capable of strength, but not of brutality or harshness. What strikes in his interpretation [...] is the fluidity of the gesture, served by a wide but controlled legato. Antoine Mourlas proves to be attentive, subtle and inspired [...] before being a pianist, he is a musician, and that is the main thing. » S. Rieger (RFI)
